Day At The Park

Sunday we spent the afternoon at Coonskin (yes, that is really the name of the park) with Madelyn. We packed a lunch, rode the paddle boats-which was short lived-, played at the playground, and even fished. Okay, Jeremy fished and we watched. He managed to catch a few (very tiny) fish and I think that was probably the highlight for Madelyn. You can tell by the pics she was a bit unsure at first, but she did end up touching them, along with telling random people that her Daddy caught a fish!
We also fed the ducks and geese while there. It's amazing how trained those birds are. One drop of a bread crumb while on the boat and they all came flocking. Madelyn loved it however we didn't let her "pet them" like she wanted. While there, she also found an empty bird's nest which she thought was pretty neat but sadly a little girl scooped up a baby bird that she had found on the ground somewhere close by. Hopefully that little bird is big enough to survive on its own. If I had any idea of how to take care of it, we would have probably ended up with that thing. Jeremy and I are suckers when it comes to animals-no matter what kind.
All and all it was a beautiful day and we all really had a great-very hot-day.

It looks like you had a great time. We forget that just packing a picnic and spending the day in the park is a big deal and such a memorable experience for kids. A man at our church found out that Griffin had never been fishing and he promised to take him when it cools off some. Fishing was just never a sport Ed took up, so Griff's never been. He will probably freak out if he catches something!! Hope it isn't an old boot.HA
